Applying the techniques, strategies and suggestions added in these two fascinating books makes all the difference between getting by, and getting what you want faster.

The first one was an audio that going through iTunes store definitely catch my eyes immediately as it was in the top 3 of the best sellers there. Better yet it has glorious feedback on Amazon. Build Your Own Deck With the Right Power Tools

You'll have to start out with using a little imagination to picture what you want your end result to be. A complex deck may be out of your league, so leave that up to the professionals. You'll need only basic construction skills to build a simple deck.

There are many home and garden type magazine that will inspire you with some ideas, but you'll have to decide how large you want your deck to be. Try a few chairs and a small table around the area of your yard where you are planning to build it. This will give you a basic idea of how much space you will need. You might find a plan that already suits what you need.

The type of decking material you choose will depend on your budget. A wood deck is obviously going to be less expensive than a higher-end composite deck. However, remember to calculate on your costs how much you will have to pay for maintaining the deck if you decide to go with wood. It can be costly in the long run. The plan you follow will list all of the building materials and hardware you'll need. Definitely invest in the right power tools if you don't already have them. A cordless drill and a good "chop saw" saw will save you hours of labor.

Deck piers are also a must if you want to save time and strain on your back. These are pre-formed concrete footings with notches that accept standard sizes of wood. They are used in a "deck pier system" which saves you the trouble of digging holes and pouring your own footings.

Once you have calculated all of the materials you will need, have them delivered from your local building supply store if you don't have a vehicle to get them yourself. Before you begin construction, do an inventory of your materials and power tools. It will go smoothly if you have everything you need on hand.

Useful Tips to Remember When Remodeling Your Home

Once in a while you need to indulge in a remodeling or redecorating project in your room to give a whole new look for your house. If you plan this, you need to have enough money on hand because remodeling projects can typically costs more than tens of thousands of dollars especially if you would want to include areas such as the flooring, cabinets and new appliances. If finances are not a problem, then feel free to go out and buy the furnishings such as Tiffany table lamps and materials you have been saving for in years.

Although money may be no object for you, you still have to take your time when purchasing for the right supplies, furniture and selecting contractors. Determine your budget beforehand for each piece furniture or service and stick with it. At this rate, you will not find yourself going over the intended financial arrangements. The secret lies in spending only about 70-80% of your budget to buy everything you desire for your house. In this fashion, you will still have money to spare when unexpected surprises happen. This will prevent delays that often happen when a contractor unknowingly discovers a termite colony in the process of renovating.

Naturally, people will most often spend their budget on windows, flooring and fireplaces. The expenses in these areas will usually exceed the budget and tends to leave limited choices for other important home accessories such as furniture and lighting. This is not a good idea. You should always put into consideration and include in the budget these important aspects.

For the furniture, always begin with large items such as sofa, chairs, coffee tables and matching accent tables. It is entirely possible that you will over budget in buying these key pieces but it is better to invest in high quality furniture than risking it on poorly made ones that you will surely regret later on. In the long run, you will end up saving money and will wind up with a more complete and durable furniture pieces.

On the other hand, you should also consider the three types of lighting to provide your home with a more comfortable and appealing look. The three types will include the ambient, task and accent light. In the ambient lighting, there is an overall illumination of an area. In contrast, the task lighting is intended for specific tasks and is more concentrated. It has less ambient lighting that is often used for reading and other related tasks. The third type is accent lighting which is light often left in the middle of the night to prevent us from bumping into things. Whenever possible, it is advised to use these types of lighting fixtures to provide a more balanced lighting effect. A living room can therefore be designed to have flush mounted ceiling fixture for ambient lighting, a couple of tiffany table lamps atop accent tables for task lighting and maybe some wall lamps for the accent lighting.

Remodeling and renovating your home will take a lot of effort and patience. As this is an immense project and will most likely be expensive, you should never purchase items such as furniture on impulse. Plan everything ahead of time to harmonize everything and stick with your budget. Surely in the end, you will appreciate the overall look of your new home because of your persistence and hard work.

Obeying God and Hearing His Voice

A friend of mine told me he once asked a godly lady how she became so powerful with God. She replied, "Have you ever been in a restaurant or some other public place and felt God leading you to go talk to some stranger there?" He said yes. She asked, "Did you do it?"

He was silent as he thought of opportunities missed. She said, "Well, there you have it."

The life of a disciple is lived with regular knots in the pit of your stomach. Perhaps there are some great disciples out there who are never in fear that what they think is the voice of God inside is really just some inner impulse that will lead them to great embarrassment. I don't know any disciples like that, though. The great disciples I know set the fear aside, live with the knot in the pit of their stomach, and risk embarrassment.

These disciples talk to people, including strangers, that they feel led to talk to. They say that strange thing that they feel God leading them to say. They do that unusual thing that they feel God leading them to do.

I remember one night in Germany feeling led to talk to a man I was walking past on the sidewalk. I didn't know what to say, but I remembered years earlier that an evangelist (Danny Duvall) had said thatstraightforward is best. Just tell them that you want to talk to them about Jesus.

So I stopped this man with the question, in German, "Do you know Jesus?" His answer was amazing. "How could I possibly know Jesus? He's been dead for two thousand years."

I had one of the most interesting talks I've ever had with that man. I don't know what impact it had on him, but it led to one of the more interesting nights of my life. He invited me to talk to him more at the bar he was walking to. I went home to tell my wife I was taking him up on the invitation, and then I went to the bar.

When I got there, the German man wasn't there, but an old friend from the military was. I got to spend an hour talking to him about life and about the Lord. After that hour, another man came in talking about God. Yes, talking about God in a bar. He was very strange, and he had strange ideas about God. I talked to him until he let down and began talking a lot more reasonably, and he began admitting he knew he needed to give his life to God. It was a very, very unusual conversation.

Amazingly enough, it didn't end there. The owner of the local "house of ill repute" (that was legal in Germany then, and it may still be) came in. The bartender refused to serve him and said he always came in to start fights with Americans. I asked him in German why he hated Americans, and he was surprised I spoke German. He said he was still mad about world war II, even though he had to have been a child during the war. I was able to preach the Gospel even to him, though he was very resistant to it.

Afterwards, I drove the strange man that had talked about God to his room on base. The military had sent him over for just one week, and so I never saw him again, but I know our conversation made an impact on his life. He had been drinking a bit in the bar, even though I hadn't been, and he really opened up on the way to his room.

I've missed my share of opportunities by not listening to that quiet inner voice, but I didn't miss that one. It's been more than twenty years since that happened, but the stories from that night still inspire me and others not to let God's whisperings go by unheeded.

Make your own memories. You can't be a disciple without regularly feeling the gnawing fear that comes when God asks you to do something outside your comfort zone. The choice between obeying your fear and obeying God can be the one difference between being a great man or woman of Godand being just another person who left no impact on this world.

Stop Stuttering - Help - How to Stop Stammering and Stuttering Easily

If you want to stop stuttering, help is necessary. Stuttering or stammering is a speech disorder where you repeat certain syllables or sounds while you are talking. It gives people the impression that you are uncomfortable in the situation or unsure of yourself. They can quite literally hear the fear in your voice. For this reason, many people want to quit their stammering and end the problems that it creates. A stutter is involuntary and as such it cannot be stopped by reading a troubleshooting guide or FAQ, nor can it be stopped by participating in tutorials. Instead of a tutorial, a person with a stammer needs to find another way of stopping the problem. While there is no anti - stammer medications that you can go to the shop and pick up, the solution is almost as easy as that. If you suffer from stuttering, self help and support are necessary to overcome it and hypnosis is the most effective way of achieving that goal.

How Do I Know If I Stammer?

It is often hard for people to hear their own speech imperfections. They have likely become so habitual that they are hard to recognize. However, if you routinely draw out sounds within a word or repeat syllables or sounds then you might have problem. The problem is often first recognized by a parent or teacher during one's childhood but not always.

Why Is My Speech Impaired?

Scientists and doctors are not sure what causes this particular speech impairment. It might have something to do with language development in the brain or it might be a result of teasing or low self confidence during childhood. The cause is not as important as recognizing that you have a problem and fixing it. The solution to the problem is not at all dependent on the initial cause.

Is My Speech Holding Me Back?

If you have a speech impairment such as stammering it is likely holding you back whether you are in school or in the workforce. Other people hear uncertainty and anxiety in your voice and make the often erroneous conclusion that you do not know what you are talking about.

Now, imagine what the difference would be in how others perceive you if you spoke clearly and confidently. People would not be distracted by your speech and would instead listen to the words that you were saying. You would be more respected and better able to communicate your point of view which often will get you what you want.

Do You Want to Stop? Stuttering Help is Possible

Self hypnosis recordings can help you end your speech impairment once and for all. The recordings target your subconscious and change the message that your brain has been sending your voice for most of your life.

Hypnosis is a Good Solution

Hypnosis is a noninvasive solution that will not cause any side effects. The recordings allow you to change a life long habit quickly and from the comfort of your own home. You will not have to endure countless and expensive sessions with speech pathologists or psychologists. If you want to stop stuttering, help through hypnosis is possible and often the most effective method available.

How to Find a Good Accountant

The first thing you do to find a good accountant, is to build a list of referrals form credible sources. To find resources for these referrals may seem like a daunting task at first, however, it is simpler to accomplish this goal then what you think. You can go to such resources such as your local bank, any type of financial planners that you may have, and you can even talk to your current insurance agent about people they know about to be your accountant. If you have any contacts or affiliations with other businesses, then you can ask them for accountant referrals as well. These are all trusted resources that can provide you with some good leads on who you can trust to be your accountant. Finding accountant candidates through trusted resources such as your businesses bank, is one of the best ways to find an accountant. Most professional referrals like this mean that the accountant has a good reputation.

Once you have your accountant referrals, you then want to contact them and exchange information. Feel free to tell the accountant about your business as well as your accounting needs and expectations. While you give the accountant your information, also ask for theirs. Some key things you want to find out is if the accountant can handle a business in your industry and your size, as well as finding out all of the services they offer. Do not be afraid to look at their portfolio and get estimates for their services. Be sure you know what services the fees cover. You never want to select an accountant whose fees are to high for what you can afford. Make sure that you can maintain a good line of communication and determine if they are helpful and informative. The accountant who offers the most detail and takes the most time to not only tell you about the services they can offer you, but also listens to your concerns, is usually the type of accountant that you are looking for.

After gathering all of the information about the accountants, then make the decision of who is the right accountant for you. Remember that you will be having a long business relationship with your accountant, so you want to select an accountant that you feel you can build a good rapport with as well as someone who will have you and your businesses best interest in mind.

By following these simple steps, you can have confidence in finding an accountant who will work hard to help you direct your company into a positive direction for financial growth and expansion.

Health and Wealth

We all know that good health can positively affect us both physically and emotionally. But it can also have an impact in our financial well-being. In fact, studies have shown that healthy people are able to work more and be more productive, thus being more likely to be successful. Healthy people also tend to be happier and more confident in themselves, which can also breed success. Good health brings a positive outlook and, hopefully, good fortune. Investing in your health is well worth it. Here are a few simple tips to a healthier and wealthier life:

1.Utilize preventative medicine and tests to determine health risks early, and fend off future health and financial burdens. Recommended tests include body mass index, blood pressure check, gynecological exam, and physical exam.

2.Men and women over age 40 and 50, respectively, should talk to a doctor about taking a daily dose of aspirin to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. It can cost as low as 10 cents a day.

3.Flossing helps to prevent gum disease, which can add 21% more to your healthcare costs than someone with healthy gums.

4.Try to get 7-9 hours of sleep every night, and try to develop a routine of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. Lack of sleep increases your risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. You're also less likely to catch a cold if you get more sleep.

5.Exercise for 30 minutes a day to reduce risks of obesity, cancer, stroke, diabetes, and many other illnesses. Even a brisk walk or a jog can help.

6.Quit smoking to save up to $5 a day and live long enough to see retirement.

Just as your health can affect your financial life, so can your financial problems affect your health. When you've got less money, you're more likely to think about your personal finances than your health and fitness. Stress and depression can occur in tough financial times, making it hard to get motivated. Situations like these make it all the more important to stay active, healthy, and in a positive frame of mind to dig yourself out of financial hardship. A healthy diet, home workouts, and running/jogging are excellent and affordable ways to stay in shape. Some healthy choices will cost you, like better food or a gym membership. If you choose to spend in those areas, try to reduce spending on other frivolous or unhealthy habits. This way, you can invest in your health and wealth at the same time.

Before starting any health and exercise regimen, you should consult your physician.

Developing Wealth Building Habit

Cloudy Pool Water - Causes & Cures

Cloudy pool water is caused by many factors. These factors may be chemical (water balance, pH, improper methods), mechanical (pool filter system) or environmental (source water, excessive rain, heavy use). Often times, pool owners attempt to treat the symptoms but not the cause of the cloudy water, so we have to look at all of the things that may contribute to the problem. Let's look at the causes of cloudy swimming pool water, then we can look at treatments and cures.

Before we dive in let's first put cloudy water to the test. Cloudy pool water is in the eyes of the beholder. Cloudy can mean: Dull - the pool water just doesn't sparkle. Hazy - it just isn't as clear as it normally is. Cloudy - you can make out the bottom of the pool if you look hard. Opaque - the term says it all!

Chemical Reasons

Many pool owners quickly blame "bad chemicals" so let's start there. Here are some of the factors and their contribution to the cloudy water problem. Water chemistry can contribute to cloudy or hazy water - if the pH is HIGH (over 7.8) and or the Total Alkalinity (TA) is HIGH (over 200 ppm) and or the Calcium Hardness (CH) is HIGH (over 400 ppm). With pH & TA being high the water will become dull or flat and the chlorine reacts more slowly loses its ability to kill and control bacteria and algae. Now you have early algae growth - another cause of cloudy pool water. High CH doesn't become a problem until the water warms up to over 85 degrees F; then you have a "cloudy" condition that won't go away. Maintain good pool water balance with these parameters: pH - 7.2 - 7.6 (all pools); Total Alkalinity - 80 - 120 ppm (concrete) or 120 - 150 ppm (vinyl liner); Calcium Hardness 200 - 300 ppm (concrete) or 175 - 250 ppm (vinyl).

Other chemical or chemistry based reasons for cloudy pool water would be lack of regular shocking, periodic chemical cleaning of the filter, poorly maintained sanitizer levels, lack of a chemical maintenance routine. Regular weekly or biweekly shocking of the pool aids in oxidizing un-filterable swimmer waste such as body oils, lotions, urine, hair gel, perspiration, etc. We find that the single biggest mistake customers make in their normal care is not shocking the pool often enough or insufficiently (not using the proper amount of pool shock). Proper shocking also helps to "rejuvenate" the chlorine level and knock out early algae growth. Whenever you have a pool party with lots of expected bathers, consider shocking the pool the day before (helps build up the chlorine level providing a buffer for an eventual chlorine demand) as well as immediately following the party (shocks & oxidizes everything that was brought into the pool during the party -- if your guests weren't using the bathroom, the beer & soda had to go somewhere). Using a calcium hypochlorite shock such as BioGuard Burn Out Extreme is preferred since the product will get in, do its work, then get out. Potassium monopersulfate shocks like Oxysheen work well to help break up chloramines (combined chlorines), but shouldn't be used exclusively.

Mechanical Reasons

If the chemistry is good and the pool is being properly shocked and algaecide added every 1 to 2 weeks, then it is necessary to look at the mechanical reasons. The mechanical components contributing to cloudy pool water would be improper filter size (too small), improper pump and motor size (too small or too large a horsepower pump), insufficient filtering time, poor circulation, improper maintenance (vacuuming & brushing). I can recount story after story when I've walked into a customer's backyard to help them troubleshoot a problem pool only to find the filter shut off or improperly connected. When simple corrections are made, the pool water is clear in as little as 24 hours. Let's examine some basics.

Your swimming pool's filtering system should be operating a minimum of 8 to 10 hours per day, every day from opening to closing. If the pool water becomes cloudy or other problems become evident, then constant running of the filter until the problem is solved is required. If the filter was properly sized (even slightly bigger is better) then 8 to 10 hours daily is good. On the other hand, too large of a pump may be "harmful" to the filtration. If the horsepower is too great, you may be blowing dirt and everything else you want filtered right through the filter (especially sand filters). When it comes to 2 speed pumps, make sure the "high" speed run time is set for a minimum of 6 hours daily PLUS and additional 12 to 18 hours at "low" speed).

Consider using an automatic pool cleaner. You'll end up with better circulation, cleaner pool surfaces and less work.

The other mechanical reasons are also important. Regular vacuuming and brushing help with the overall circulation by moving water around. Keep directional "eyeballs" pointed DOWN to force filtered water down to the bottom of the pool and therefore aid in water movement by breaking up dead spots. Too frequent backwashing of the filter doesn't give the filter media enough time to do its best cleaning -- a dirty filter filters a finer particle. One final mechanical reason for cloudy pool water, lack of use. Actively used pools are always better circulated and filtered. So even if the water is cloudy (as long as the water is in good chemical balance), use the pool!

Environmental Reasons

Remember that whatever is out in the world, will eventually get in the pool and detract from water clarity. Pollen, dust, dirt, leaves, make-up water, bird droppings (forgot about those, right?), rain, local construction sites, etc. can all affect your swimming pool. Each of these culprits needs to treated differently. Pollen, dust and other fine particulate can be treated using a water clarifier like BioGuard Polysheen Blue. Flocculants work well in severe situations by settling the particles to pool bottom and vacuuming it all out on Waste. Use a skimmer sock inside of the skimmer to remove fine pollen or dust that may be too fine for your sand filter.

Leaves, swimmers, makeup water, droppings will create a chlorine demand. Shocking the pool is necessary. Make-up water can change the water chemistry affecting the pH, TA and CH not to mention the possible addition of heavy metals, all of which can cause or add to water cloudiness.

Final Notes

As you can see there's no 1 or 2 reasons for cloudy pool water. It's usually a combination of factors. Some of them not even coming from the pool itself. The best solution to cloudy pool water is prevention utilizing a good, regular chemical and cleaning maintenance program. About 30 to 60 minutes per week is all that it takes. If or when your pool water turns cloudy, don't start adding clarifiers or flocs. Get down to the real cause. Look at all of the contributing factors.

Water Stains On Shingles

Upside Down Tomatoes

The upside down tomato growing concept is just one of the ideas in the ever broadening area of vegetable growing that our ancestors, even the closest ones, would never have conceived of in their day to day gardening toils. The concept seems to be that if you can put it in dirt, you can grow it and eat it.

While admitting that the idea was not something I would have thought of - or even considered - the concept is proving to be very popular, especially for those with a short growing season and those with no ground area to put a more traditional potting system on. The basic premise of the upside down tomato is that you can put the dirt in a tubular hanging contraption, put the water reservoir on the top, and plant a tomato plant in the space on the bottom. This makes perfect sense if you have ever gardened in a pot, because the water will keep the soil at a constant moisture rate and the fertilizer being put into the water would keep the plant nourished more effectively. There would be less water evaporation, meaning less mess and fewer times to have to water. Seems quite plausible.

There are those who utterly swear by these hanging gardens. They work very well if you can follow directions and understand the basics of gardening to begin with. It has been shown to be very popular with apartment dwellers, especially those on the upper floors when they have no growing room except a tiny deck to work with. The amount of room they save can open up floor space for other vegetable treats, such as lettuce, so that you can grow an entire salad bar in a very small space indeed! The novelty also makes a really good conversation starter for people you have just met, or with people you would like to meet!

The ease of using the upside down tomato plant is one of the key features that make this planting method so popular. The main thing to remember is to choose your tomatoes wisely, make sure you water when needed, and make sure your hanger is strong enough for the weight of the entire contraption, taking into account the weight of the tomatoes you will be growing. Added up it becomes heavier than standard hangers can handle, so make sure you are properly outfitted in that department. You must learn how to prune the tomato plants effectively to keep off anything that is not going to produce the most benefit for your harvests. Pruning also helps to keep down the weight of the plant. Excess foliage means excess water usage and unnecessary plant exertion for growing greenery instead of fruit! You can't eat the leaves.

You can also use the upside down tomato grower for things other than tomatoes. If you have one for tomatoes, why not one for cucumbers? This would add one more interesting ingredient to your salad bar. You could make pickles? You can also use one for eggplant, and maybe some peppers, perhaps. A line of vegetables hanging along a roofline would make a very interesting landscape.

Upside down tomatoes may be a fairly new technique, but it has caught on in certain areas and is becoming very popular in our health conscious society. The flavor of homegrown cannot be duplicated, and with something as easy as upside down vegetables why would we settle for anything less? Today may be upside down tomatoes, but in the future - who knows how efficient we may have to become.

Gardening is in my blood, and in my freezer! I'm going to start planning for this years harvests now, why don't you come along and do some yourself at http://thegardencenter.blogspot.com

Or you can use some new methods of gardening with http://upsidedowntomatoes.blogspot.com and http://tomatosuccess.blogspot.com

Help from God

I want to share something from my Bible reading from the One Year Bible.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. (2 Cor 1:3-4)

As Paul writes to us from his prison cell, he speaks about the help of God, which he calls comfort. Id like to call it Help from God. Let me share a few things about this help.

1. Its supernatural. Clearly it is not earthly, human, physical comfort he is speaking of. Its the comfort of God in spite of our uncomfortable circumstances.

2. Its constant. He comforts us in all our troubles... There is no situation so bad that God cant and wont help us.

3. Its purposeful. so that we can comfort others.

4. Its uplifting. We will be able to give

5. Its from God. the same comfort God has given us.

Be encouraged today, no matter what you are going through. Gods supernatural, constant, purposeful, uplifting help is available for you today. PRAISE HIM!

By the way. the One Year Bible is available online at www.oneyearbibleonline.org. If you like using the computer (and Im sure you do, since youre reading this), it makes Bible reading so easy. You can even choose from several translations. I usually use the NLT. Thats not the New Larrys Translation. Its the New Living Translation. : )

Lucrative Article Writing - Discover 4 Effective Secrets to Impact Your Article Writing

If you are looking for ways on how you can advertise your products, drive quality traffic to your website, and position yourself as an expert on your chosen niche without shelling out your precious dimes for your advertising cost, you must seriously get into article writing. This is the process of sharing valuable information to your potential clients so they will know that you are really good on what you do and consider you as a key person in your chosen industry.

Here are the 4 effective secrets to impact your article writing:

1. Take a firm stand. As a writer and an expert on your chosen niche, you are in the best position to take one side of your story or topic that you think will benefit your readers. For instance, if you are discussing about exercising vs. diet pills in losing weight, you can take one side of your story and present researches and studies that will back up your claims so you can easily persuade online users to believe you and trust you. This is one of the best ways to influence the buying decisions of your target market and convince them to take advantage of your offerings.

2. Your articles must be credible. By this, I simply mean that they must be fact-based. Millions of people from across the globe are using articles as their resource materials when they are looking for solutions to their problems and answers to their questions. That is why, it is extremely important that you do not mislead them and feed them only with information that are base on facts.

3. Spill in trade secrets. Share a slice of your knowledge or expertise for free. You don't have to offer your readers everything you know but you can use some information as baits in order to hook them and convince them to do business with you. This is especially helpful if you are selling information base products like ebooks, tutorials, audio products, seminars, bootcamps, etc.

4. Learn basic HTML. This is to empower you to insert links on your articles (if you are posting them on your blogs, websites, or relevant forums) so you can easily drive online users to your product page or to your squeeze pages. You can also use this in linking your articles so you can increase their exposure and make it easier for your readers to access them.

Solutions For Dealing With Know it Alls - Don't Let Anyone Push You Around Anymore

Over the years of dealing with people, at work or wherever I was, I have found some of these close minded people to be extremely hard headed and this often creates problems with anyone who doesn't agree with them. You probably know someone like this and they are often hard to relate to.

Some of these close minded people will offer their opinion on any subject at any time, whether you ask for it or not. I once had a man tell me something about my business that was wrong. I suggested that he contacted a government office to get the correct information, if he was even interested. He continued to tell me, that I didn't know what I was talking about and I should contact a government agency to verify his information. I believe he just wanted to argue.

This never has made any sense, if you have some facts and can show them the information and it actually makes sense, wouldn't this be a step in the right direction.

I've tried to figure out where these people were coming from and why they wouldn't take the time to gather factual information or at the least listen to what you had to say, sensibly, usually you have already listened to their opinion and when it's your turn to speak, they have no interest in what you have the say.

These people seem to live in a life of turmoil and confusion, while constantly trying to impress others of their intelligence and this often leads others to an impression of ignorance, not knowledge. While they are explaining to you something in your business or a subject in which you are what others would consider an expert in your field, they will spend hours trying to convince you that they are right and you don't know what you're talking about. Even though you have facts to back up your comments.

These people often create problems in your life and should be avoided if possible. I suggest you have fun with them and lead them to believe, what they truly desire in life and give them the illusion that you personally believes they are the smartest people in the universe.

I have done this more than once, to these hard headed geniuses and had a lot of fun with it. Most of them will talk about subjects they have no information about. Look something up in an encyclopedia or on the internet that you think most people wouldn't know anything about. Ornithology would be a good to have fun with.

Not to change the subject, but there's a great story called the cookie thief story, it's one of my favorites and really puts close minded people into perspective.

Don't let these people control or ruined your lives, either have fun with them or explain to them that your tired of listening to their superior closed minded and hardheaded ignorance of useless information.

Going To Heaven Or Not

The Perfect Conservatory - How Best To Get The Most Out Of This Wonderful Home Add-On

As the good old media whip up the economic slow-down into a frenzy fewer and fewer of us are willing to part with our hard earned money and look to move home. Instead this year the bulk of the population that were looking to upgrade their homes for new and bigger versions will be staying put and instead trying to re-model their homes in the hope of adding extra living space to them as well as increase the market value of the property when the housing market finally does get the feel good factor back. Within a house there are many tasks that can be carried out to improve the value of the home, some are easier to carry out than others, some are more expensive to carry out than others and some will yield a higher return when it comes to sell the property in question. So what options have you available if you are in this position and are looking to progress?

Whatever you do you need to think long term, adding value to you property so that you see a return on your investment has got to be the overall objective but adding something to your home that makes it a more pleasant place to live should also be a major consideration.

One such addition that fits the bill is adding a conservatory to your home. Depending on the climate of where you live adding a conservatory could add a touch of outdoor living to your home for most of the year without having to worry too much about the outdoor elements. A conservatory should create a light and airy room with the feeling of the outdoors but with the security of the indoors. A conservatory is a multi functional room that if constructed properly can be used all year round, although there are a few very important things to bear in mind if you want to achieve the perfect conservatory.

Heating a conservatory is a concern for many people, those of you that have ever been in a greenhouse will appreciate that when the sun is not shining and it is cold outside a greenhouse is freezing but when the sun comes out it is sub-tropical. The same can happen with a conservatory if not constructed with the correct materials. The problem lies within the glass that goes to make up the bulk of the construction of the conservatory. If cheaper quality glass is used then in winter when you go to heat your conservatory the heat will disappear as types of cheaper glass do not have any insulating properties at all hence the heat disappears out into the atmosphere. Likewise, in summer as the glass has no reflective property the heat from the sun streams through into the conservatory and makes it unbearably hot. However a glass has been developed that minimizes this effect by reflecting heat waves back into the conservatory during the colder months as well as reflecting the heat waves away from the conservatory in the summer months. This helps to keep the temperature manageable all year round.

Of course in the winter months it is always advisable to have some form or other of heating in the conservatory but what are the best options open to you? Many people tend to go with the small conservatory convector heaters which heat up air and then via a fan within the heater distribute it around the room. These are quite effective as long as your conservatory is not too big but they can be expensive to run. A cheaper alternative to run but more expensive to install would be to add a radiator or two to the room. If you already have gas central heating with radiators in your home it is not too big a job for a heating engineer to add a couple of radiators to a conservatory. The heat from radiators can help to give a nice cozy feel to a conservatory. The final option that is proving to be more and more popular is the installation of under floor heating within the conservatory. This is probably the most expensive option to go for but can give the best results as well as making the conservatory feel the most livable.

As anyone who has ever spent any time in a conservatory will tell you they can be a little bit like being in a goldfish bowl, completely open for everyone to observe what is going on. To minimize this effect it would be an idea to fit some conservatory blinds, these come in many different sizes and colors and it is generally pretty easy to get a style that fits in with the rest of your house decor. You can go for the conventional curtain or drape style window covering or you can even go for the more fashionable venetian blinds type covering. Whatever window covering you go for the most important thing is that it enables the conservatory to blend in with the rest of the house rather than looking like an afterthought or bolt on.

Happy With Herbs

Whatever your interest, growing herbs is easy, and only a little planning is all that is required in order to maintain this perennial garden delight. Every garden deserves an herb garden, even if this means a few pots or tubs, or simply a window box crammed with parsley, thyme and chives.

Although some herbs like Rosemary or Fennell can grow happily for years, most need to be renewed every 2-3 years, whilst others like Sage or Dill can be grown from seed or cuttings each year.

But how many herbs do I require to start an herb garden? Some herbs like fennel grow quite big 1500mm tall whereas parsley or thyme will not grow taller than 150mm - 200mm. Best to go for a head start, so buy some young herb plants rather than seeds, at least that way you won't end up with twenty of the one variety! Pick a sunny site and start planting! For the smaller varieties consider planting more than one, but this will depend on personal choice.

So what do I use to stock my new Herb garden? Well there's a huge range, but select varieties you will use and enjoy. Here's a list of the more popular varieties:

Parsley (available in various varieties flat leaf and curly leaf) use both types in a range of meat and vegetable dishes. A small plant.
Thyme, fabulous aroma and used to flavour almost any dish. A small plant.
Chives, a very small but simple to grow herb. A real easy 'cut and come' plant, simply use fresh chives to add a mild onion flavour to food and salads
Mint - spearmint or Bowles mint (this plant can be invasive, to control root spread/growth, plant in a plastic tub in the ground)
French Tarragon is a delicate upright plant, but excellent for flavouring fish, salads etc.
Green Sage, great with stuffings and Pasta
Fennell a very hardy large self seeding plant. Used to flavour a wide range including fish, eggs, cheese, vegetables etc. The leaves and bulb have a lovely aniseed flavour which is popular with many.
Lemon Balm used in iced drinks and hot teas. Like mint, can spread rapidly so plant in a container in the ground.
Green
Golden Marjoram can be used in meat stuffings.
Oregano, add to all Italian style sauces.
Dill, very popular herb with the leaves and seeds used to flavour pickles, cucumber and fish dishes. A tall plant with feather like foliage.
Chervil, a little similar to Parsley in appearance with a delicate spicy fragrance and used in soups, sauces and salads.
Basil or Sweet Basil, is a pleasant smelling annual plant with a spicy taste. Great with all tomatoe dishes.
Rosemary fantastic to flavour Lamb, poultry, roasted or barbequed.
Bay with its aromatic leaves is a very large plant and popular to add flavour to a number of dishes including fish, soups and especially French casseroles. Don't forget to discard the leaves before serving food!

Sometimes the Herb garden can look a little jaded over the winter months. To avoid this why not add a little more structure by planting the perimeter with Buxus Sempervirens, which can be clipped tightly to provide an all year round smart green planted perimeter. Use Bay Leaf Standards or Mopheads to add a formal look and visual interest at head height. Plant you favourite herbs inside the perimeter. Remember herbs are best grown in a sunny location and if used in Kitchen, plant near House. If space is limited, you can also plant herbs in amongst the shrubs or in containers. Plant in groups of 3-5 for added impact.

Finding Something You Don

If the Greek Religious Beliefs Were Wrong, Could Other Religions Be Wrong?

Greek mythology is taught in most schools during some time of your education, if you grew up in the United States. I remember looking back at the Greeks and thinking, "I can't believe these people were that stupid, who believes that there is a God of the ocean or one for love." I couldn't believe as a young elementary school student, that these people got caught up in these beliefs.

I mean come on, I was a Christian at that time and there was only one God, how stupid can these people be or misinformed about the way things really and truly are. It's kind of sad, but all the people in the past that did not accept Jesus Christ as the one true God are all living in hell. Well, that's how I thought when I was a child.

Some of the mythological stories are about pain, love, happiness, plotting, scheming and power. Now we're talking about something that most people can understand. These gods were just like regular people, except some of them had extraordinary powers and if they used them poorly, they would have to answer to the gods god, Zeus.

At the time in history, that the Greeks believed and their gods, they were one of the most civilized groups of people on Earth. They had some of the best and brightest scholars around. The Roman Empire and some of the United States government was based on information provided by Greek scholars.

Have you ever thought about your religion as being wrong? If we now know that the Greek gods and goddesses do not exist, do you think our modern day beliefs can also be wrong. If we could go into the future 1000 years, could children be studying about Christianity, Islam or Buddhism, like modern day children study about Greek mythology and other beliefs that we view today as unbelievable or impossible.

The Greek gods and goddesses made sense to the citizens of Greece in the past. Do you think in the future that our modern day religions will be viewed in the same way as we now view Greek mythology.

Looking back at the past, often inspires me for a better future.

Religious Faith Or Religious Facts

If you're a religious follower and believe in your religion, I would like to ask you a question. Do you base religious beliefs on facts or faith? Let's start out with this and assume that you answered, that you do base your religious beliefs on faith, with little factual information to back it up.

Basing your religious beliefs on faith alone can lead you to believe, what ever someone else tells you. For example, if you go to your place of worship and the religious leader reads something from your scriptures to the followers, do you assume that this is a fact. Are you going to do a little research if something doesn't sound right. If everyone else shares a common opinion about something in your religion, but it isn't true, wouldn't you like to know about it or are you one of those people who didn't even listen and really doesn't even want to be at your place of worship.

Faith can create a lot of problems all by itself. Whenever you start digging into most religions, like I have, and mind you, I'm no expert and do not claim to be an expert in religious beliefs. I'm trying to get people to learn about their religion. This information can be obtained from your religious scriptures, books on other religions, information on the Internet and last but not least talking to other people, outside and within your religion.

Religious facts are hard to come by, when you're beliefs are unrealistic. I can't explain the creation of the world or what year it will be destroyed, but it does seem a little unrealistic and hard to believe that a superior entity created this world and possibly the universe. At the same time I cannot argue with this or disprove it.

With this in mind, I wouldn't go around telling everyone that God or a God created the universe. I just don't have any proof and it's as simple as that. Why would I want to instill this belief into my children or another person? No one on earth has this information.

Try not to base your life on religious faith alone. Just the simple fact that you are reading this article, tells me that you have an interest in furthering your education about religion, whether it's yours or someone else's. You might not be able to find all of the facts to support your religious beliefs but at least it's a start and you're heading in the right direction.

Secret

What Happened to the Wise Men's Gifts - Thought Provoking Religious Ideas on Christianity

Do you ever wonder what ever happened to the Wise men's gifts that were given to Jesus's parents? Nobody ever talks about it and it was never mentioned again in the Bible. If it was mentioned again I would love to have somebody e-mail me some more information on what Joseph and Mary did with the gifts, that were given to the newborn King or in other words Jesus.

I didn't come up with this idea on my own, I was reading a book by George Seaver called Albert Schweitzer "The Man and His Mind." I found the book in a thrift store near Seattle, Washington while on vacation visiting one of my relatives. I heard a lot about Albert Schweitzer from various personal development and spiritual books and thought this book would be give me some insight on the man.

I really had no clue, that I would find something like this within the first few pages.

Here's a quote from the book.

When I was eight my father, at my own request, gave me a New Testament, which I read eagerly. Among the stories which interested me most was that of the Wise Man from the East. What did the parents of Jesus due, I asked myself, with the gold and other valuables that they got from the Wise men? How could they have been poor after that? And that the Wise men should never have troubled themselves again about the child Jesus, was to me uncomprehensible.

Now this is coming from an eight year old child, not someone who has researched biblical scripture their whole lives. What else are we missing in the Bible that doesn't make sense but we were trained to believe in our religions without ever questioning your religion . It's definitely something to think about and the next time you're reading something or listening to the news on TV, try to figure out if it's fact or fiction.

You definitely cannot believe everything you read or hear from outside sources. I heard once that the only things that are truly real are the things that never change. If you think about it, most things change and therefore would not be considered real.

Ponder That for a While.

Stress Management and Defending the Ego

Stress management is an absolute requirement when we get into a mode of defending various beliefs and opinions. We can get to a point where we would rather die than be proven wrong. This mindset can place us in a self-imposed box that closes us off from the wonders that Life offers. However, we can give ourselves immediate relief.

The ego is composed of beliefs, attitudes and the resulting energies. The ego believes these positions are necessary for its' survival. The ego believes it is right and everything else is wrong.

This variation from reality produces a tremendous amount of stress. Management of this discomfort becomes necessary if we're going to have a meaningful life. We can make amazing progress by simply letting go of the idea that we have the only right opinion.

Right or wrong depends on context. From the context of a computer programmer, it's right to spend all day in front of a computer. From the context of a sales person, it's right to spend all day saying good things about their product.

Stress management becomes necessary when we lose track of the above. You can experience relief when you recognize the above. Socrates said that we all believe we're doing the right thing.

This right and wrong context extends to all life situations. In the grand scheme of things all of us are divine. In every day living we can simply observe ourselves with love and silently give ourselves approval. Then we can observe other people with love and silently give them approval.

It's easy to read the above paragraph. However, the above is a powerful tool for living. If you focused on the above as your basic principle for living, your life experience would go through the roof.

Guideline on How to Compare Home Water Purifiers

Sooner or later, if we think seriously about the benefits of installing Home Water Purifiers we will have to compare actual offers. Of course we know that suitable devices are needed for protecting the health of our household as we read in selected official references.

We have to look at advertised commercial products and try to make up our minds as to which specific type is preferable.

It would help if we could follow a logic Guideline, an acceptable method capable of advising us how to see clearly into the important issues.

Here I would like to do just that: in this article you will find how to first establish the important items to compare and then how to do this in practice.

We should first agree that we are not talking here about grossly contaminated water supply like that we would find anywhere far from civilization. In that case we would need a sure method for purifying a minimum quantity of water for sustenance for a limited time.

No, we are talking about the quality of plenty of water supply from city distribution systems. We want to improve upon that by removing bad taste and harmful contaminants that we know or suspect are present at the tap.

Typical in this respect is the presence of chlorine, a chemical added on purpose to water systems for removing the dangers of attacks from microorganisms, microbial pathogens, biological agents, germs and bacteria that could infect human beings and spread illness.

It should be understood that the killed agents remain in the water reaching the tap, together with the chemicals and other contaminants that where not removed.

The treated water may then be suitable for human consumption and not dangerous in the short term to healthy adults, although its effects in the long term are deemed risky for young children, pregnant women and elderly people by many professional authorities as reported hereafter.

You may wish to see the following document which advises just on that. It is titled "Consumer Guide to Water Filters" and is found at www.nrdc.org/water/drinking/gfilters.asp

On three of the purification methods listed in this document I would like to add my comment, why I think they are not quite useful for Home application.

Distillation, entailing water boiling and condensation, is an energy intensive procedure producing pure distilled water that lacks minerals and good taste.

Reverse Osmosis requires energy to operate. The worst result however is that the system wastes a lot of water as a byproduct to be discarded, because it now contains the excess contaminants removed from the purified fraction.

Ultra Violet Disinfection, kills bacteria and microorganisms, but has no effect on minerals, heavy metals and chemicals.

Therefore it seems to me that the acceptable Water Purifiers left are those based on multiple level filters that get the job done satisfactorily if the water is not unduly charged with dangerous microorganisms.

Having done the first selection, how can one now look at more specific terms of comparison? They remain essentially performance and additional cost per unit of volume of treated water.

One potentially useful independent website that directly compares ten different suppliers is found at www.waterfiltercomparisons.com

Following the leads you may wish to check for yourself the results proposed.

The last important thing to check, is the trustworthiness of the suppliers. I believe that by comparing water purifiers offers with the above subjects in mind one has a good chance of homing on good products. I hope readers will agree and find the above guidelines useful.

Elia E. Levi is a retired engineer.
After researching the subject of drinking water quality and of home water filters and purifiers, he set up a website where he proposes the results of his inquiry for all to consider, to reach independently their conclusions.

Tips For Buying Short Sales Property

With Orlando foreclosures on the rise, more and more homeowners are considering a short sale on their homes to hopefully avoid the dreary grips of foreclosure. If you are a potential homebuyer or investor, Orlando short sales often reveal discounted prices and great bargains on beautiful homes. You can benefit from short sales if you know what to look for and how to go about the process.

What is a Short Sale?

A short sale is a pre-foreclosure transaction in which a lender agrees to allow the sale of a home for less than the amount owed on the mortgage. Across the United States, including Orlando, short sales can help prevent a foreclosure if the lender will allow it. A short sale can benefit the homeowner as well as the lender. The lender can avoid the lengthy process of a foreclosure and the expense that goes along with it. The homeowner is able to possibly save their credit from long-term damage and rebuild their life without a foreclosure hanging over their head.

Wait for the Right Opportunity

As a real estate buyer in Orlando, it may take some time to find a short sale that fits your needs and budget. But be patient - look for short sale opportunities in neighborhoods that interest you. Also, use the services of an Orlando real estate agent that specializes in short sales and foreclosures. A real estate agent can help you find short sale opportunities and guide you through the entire process. Keep in mind that every decision must be approved by the lender so it can take some time to get answers from the seller.

Inspect the Home from the Start

You might not get a chance to schedule a comprehensive home inspection before buying. If possible, take along an expert when you first view the home to help you determine the true value of the property as well as identify any hidden problems such as roof or floor damage, leaky pipes, etc. These repairs can cost you more than it's worth if you're not careful.

Obtain Title Insurance

Be sure to buy title insurance before purchasing a short sale property. The title insurance company will research the property to uncover any judgment liens, back taxes, or other debts on the property. These will automatically become your debts if you go through with the short sale blindly!

Beware of Overpriced Short Sales

Some Orlando short sale homes are not bargains at all. Unfortunately, some homes are priced far above market value even when facing foreclosure. This means the buyer likely paid an inflated price for the home to begin with, or that the area where the home is located has experienced a drastic drop in real estate value. In this case, you will actually lose money by purchasing the home.

With the help of an Orlando real estate agent and their convenient services such as Orlando MLS (multiple listing service) or listings of Orlando REO (real estate owned) properties, you can find short sale homes or other real estate bargains with a little effort and patience.

Home Sellers - The Dangers of Overpricing Your Home

When I meet with sellers about listing their home often times I hear the strategy of setting the initial asking price high and then coming down in price if it does not sell. This is really not a good idea in a traditional real estate market.

Over the last few years sellers in Sarasota, Florida were successful using this strategy of listing their property with a high sales. They were successful because Sarasota like other parts of the country was in an extreme sellers market. Our prices were continually going above the most recent sales price. Now that the market has cooled off a little bit it is necessary to change strategies when deciding on an asking price.

If you start out with too high of a sales price, then decide to drop it later your house has lost that initial flurry of activity that new listings typically get. This strategy could hurt your chances of selling your home quickly.

I think home sellers want to try this strategy hoping to find an uneducated buyer. Our real estate markets have become very efficient. Real estate information is easy to get and it travels quickly. About 3 out of 4 buyers start their home search on the internet. Today's buyers are more savvy and are more educated. Properties are listed on the MLS and most buyers have access to these listings quickly. The chances of pricing your home very high and selling it to an uneducated buyer is slim.

Lets say you do price your home high and later lower the price. Once your home has been on the market awhile it becomes stale and is harder to get a good offer. Potential buyers always ask how long a home has been on the market. If they see it has been on the market awhile they will make lower offers. By overpricing your home in the beginning, you could actually end up settling for a lower price than you would have normally received.

Real Estate 101

You might be surprised to know that that there is a difference between being a Realtor and a real estate agent. Although the two terms are commonly used interchangeably, becoming a Realtor takes much more work, dedication, and education than becoming a real estate agent. In addition, becoming a Realtor and maintaining this type of certification requires adhering to certain high standards that are not required to become a real estate agent.

Becoming a Real Estate Agent

Becoming a real estate agent is not necessarily an easy task. After all, in order to legally work as a real estate agent, one has to complete several weeks of schooling and then successfully pass an examination. In order to successfully pass the examination, you have to have a solid understanding of real estate laws and practices. At the same time, successful completing of the coursework and passing the test really only tests the person's knowledge but does nothing to test the person's code of ethics. This is what differentiates a Realtor from a real estate agent.

Becoming a Realtor

In order to become a Realtor, a person must first successfully complete the requirements to become a real estate agent. Then, the agent must complete certain steps in order to become a member of the National Association of Realtors. It is only at this time that the agent can properly be referred to as a Realtor.

For an agent to achieve this special designation, he or she must commit to treating all of the people involved with the purchase with fairness, which includes both the buyer and the seller. In addition, members of the Association must adhere to a strict code of ethics. This code includes agreeing to never mislead the buyer about the value of the home in order to secure a listing , to maintain confidentiality, and more.

Members of the National Association of Realtors are also more dedicated to education. In fact, in order to maintain their membership, members of the Association are expected to maintain a greater knowledge of the selling and buying process than those that are not members. Therefore, you can rest assured that the professional you work with will be highly knowledgeable about the buying and selling process as well as how to properly care for you and your needs.

Recognizing a Realtor

The easiest way to recognize whether or not a real estate agent is also a Realtor is to look for the Realtor logo, which is simple the capital R with a circle around it. This logo will be displayed on the Realtor's sales literature, business card, and other marketing materials.

Aside from the logo, however, you will be able to recognize a Realtor by the exceptional level of service and knowledge that these agents bring with them. Since most home purchases today exceed $100,000, you certainly want to have a professional on your side that you can trust to look out for your best interest throughout the home buying experience.

For Sale by Owner - Blessing or Curse?

Currently there is an abundance of real estate for sale. Nearly everywhere you turn you find "For Sale" signs peppering the landscape of communities throughout the nation. Newspapers contain page after page of real estate listings, while newsstands offer a bounty of magazines portraying every conceivable type of real estate property.

With so much real estate for sale it's become a "Buyer's Market", meaning there is too much property available and not enough buyers. When a buyer's market appears, homes take longer to sell and owners are forced to accept less money or sit on their property for longer periods of time.

A buyer's market is good news for those who have money to invest in real estate. Investors can purchase property under market value and eventually sell it for a nice profit. On the flip side, a buyer's market can cause financial discord for those who need to quickly sell their real estate.

Today, many people who have real estate for sale are opting to sell the property on their own. This is referred to as "For Sale by Owner" or "FSBO." When a property owner offers FSBO, there is a potential to save thousands of dollars. There is also potential for financial disaster. Therefore, anyone choosing this route must take time to become educated about the process.

When placing a house on the market, homeowners must first establish its value. This can be done by hiring a professional appraiser. Real estate values are based on a variety of factors including location, condition, amenities, and comparison of similar properties in the area.

In addition to the appraisal, home inspections are required before a sale can be closed. Experts recommend obtaining a whole house inspection prior to listing the real estate for sale. This allows ample opportunity to make repairs and prevent unforeseen problems at closing.

Those who embark on the For Sale by Owner path should become familiar with sales contracts and real estate jargon. It's imperative to learn negotiation terms and techniques and understand the legalese of closing and settlement documents.

The Internet provides many resources to assist homeowners in selling real estate. Most of the required legal forms can be downloaded for free or for a nominal fee. For Sale by Owner kits are available for purchase and include a variety of forms and resources. There are numerous websites where sellers can post information and photos of their home to attract potential buyers.

Selling real estate on your own puts everything in your hands. If you take time to learn the process before diving in, you can save yourself a lot of stress and a fistful of dollars. Education is the key to your real estate success, so don't skimp on the process.

Fruit Trees

Fruit Trees

Fruit trees are a great addition to your landscape, if you like to eat the fruit. The most important point about fruit trees is that most people like the idea of a fruit tree more than the reality of having one.

Fruit trees take work. The fruit gets full of worms unless it is sprayed at the right time. The tree must be trimmed properly to get the right size of fruit. Fruit tree limbs can break because of the heavy fruit. Finally, how many bushels can you eat at harvest time? To make it work, you need to be someone that either has a gardener or likes to spend time outside working on it. If this fits you, than a fruit tree can bring be a great addition to your home.

Apple
There are many varieties to choose from. You should consider your geographic area and apple preferences before choosing a variety. The most common mistake in planting apple trees is that most people don't take into account pollination.

Apple trees are not self pollinate. They need a secondary tree. For this reason, it's better to plant two different apple varieties that bloom together. In this way, you will get the best fruit. Some apple tree blooms produce sterile pollen and some non apple trees can pollinate. One, non apple pollinator, is the Crabapple. You may wish to get a Spring Snow Crabapple with your apple tree.

Don't spray the tree with insecticide around blooming time. It will kill the bees.

Cherry
Cherry trees have some of the most beautiful blossoms of any tree. The Japanese Kamikaze Warriors considered that if they died in battle at least they would go out in a beautiful way; like a cherry tree blossom.

Cherries are loved by birds. If you want to save the fruit, you may need to get a net and cover the tree.

Cherry trees grow from seeds. If you are eating cherries and spit out the seeds, some of them may actually take root. Most people prefer to buy a larger tree from the store, but you can actually plant them from seed.

Like apples, most cherry tree varieties need cross pollination. For this reason, it's better to get two to three different cherry tree varieties.

Cherry trees are either sweet or sour. Make sure you are getting the variety you want. A lot of people accidentally plant the sour cherries that are used for baking when they really wanted sweet cherries to eat off the tree.

Plum
Plums are of three different types belonging to the European, Damson and Japanese groups. Plums rate just behind apples as the most popular homegrown fruit around.

The Damson is very tart. The plums are used chiefly for cooking.

Japanese plums are soft and juicy, with flesh that ranges from tart to sweet. These large, round plums are best eaten fresh, and not for drying.

European plums have a more compact growth habit and can be grown in an open vase form (the middle of the tree has no central leader), in an informal fan-trained shape, or in pyramidal shapes. European plums are self-fruitful, but even these will set a better crop if there is another variety planted nearby. Most Japanese plums are not self-fertile and will require a cross-pollinator.

Citrus
Oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines, and grapefruit are all citrus. Citrus trees can grow from seed, but most are taken from root stock. They need to be watered well when they are young. After they are established, they only need watered in drought. Many homeowners over water their citrus trees and this will produce dry fruit and promote root rot and disease.

The most known places for growing citrus fruit are Florida, California, Arizona, and Texas. Brazil is the second highest producer of citrus fruit; the U.S. is the first.

Citrus plants are not tropical, but are more inclined to grow in Mediterranean weather. They need some cool nights to make the fruit sweet. Tropical plants need more water than citrus plants.

For ideal pollination, plant two or more varieties.

Pear - Bartlett

Yellow Bartlett Pears are the nations leading pear variety. They tend to bear fruit for up to 75 years.

Bartlett Pear trees are self-pollinating, but a pollinator tree will help produce better fruit. Pear trees are not asexual and so require bees to help pollinate. Bartlett Pears do not ripen properly on the tree. Growers pick the fruit when it is green.

Peaches, Nectarines, and Apricots

Peaches, nectarines and apricots bear fruit on wood that is one year old or older.

Peaches and nectarines and apricots always have to be picked ripe. They do not ripe well after they have been picked.

Peaches, nectarines, and apricots taste best fresh off the tree. Often jam or marmalade is made out of them because they can't be stored fresh. They are very sensitive to bruising and spoil easily.

They should be planted in the winter.

Stones or pits can be planted, but most people choose rootstock from the nursery.

For pollination, plant two or three varieties.
